Professor Terry Wilkins is an engineer, scientist and innovator. In his industrial career in GE Healthcare, Nobel Laureate Christian De Duve’s Institute of Cellular & Molecular Pathology, ICI and Leeds University he has created12 globally important innovations with high global economic and societal impact in nanotechnology, medicine, advanced materials and environmental engineering. He has been awarded 14 prizes, awards and medals. Examples of his innovations include >140 clinical diagnostics and closing the hole in ozone layer. His concern for human health and environmental risks is born of personal exposure to explosion hazards, radioactivity and virus-infected human serum, early in his career. It has also informed his leadership roles in UK and EU industrial research and innovation policy advisory groups He has 2 doctorates, respectively in engineering and nanoscience and he is a Fellow of both the Royal Academy Engineering and the Royal Society of Chemistry.
