Ergonomics & Human Factors Expert Witness
Our experience
Ergonomics is a diverse scientific discipline which covers many areas of work, sport and leisure. Our ergonomic consultants are professional ergonomists and human factors experts who specialise in cases relating to musculoskeletal disorders such as back problems and work-related upper limb disorders such as carpal tunnel syndrome and tennis elbow – as well as the non-specific ‘RSI’.
Ergonomic Consultancy
Based on a database of epidemiological and physiological evidence, our ergonomists will provide an evidence-based expert opinion relating to likely causation. In addition, drawing on many years of practical experience advising employers, our ergonomists will also address the statutory duties faced by employers, exploring issues such as risk assessments and practicable measures for risk reduction.
In addition to providing advisory services to employers, this expertise has also been provided to authoritative bodies such as the HSE, Industrial Injuries Advisory Council (IIAC), and the Royal College of Physicians (RCP).
Expert witness expertise has been provided to both defenders and claimants alike for human factors in litigation. For example, amongst cases which have reached the courts, our ergonomics expertise has successfully been used in defending a number of claims for carpal tunnel syndrome and, on other occasions, has also been an element in awards to claimants in excess of £100,000.
