Pneumoconiosis Field Research: Environmental conditions at Cynheidre Colliery, 1977-1980
This report tabulates the respirable dust concentrations at Cynheidre Colliery for the period April 1977 to July 1980. Information regarding the seam worked, outputs, methods of working, dust suppression and manpower, together with the associated dust concentrations, is presented in a series of face charts. The sampling for nitrous fume is noted and the results discussed. At Cynheidre Colliery the mean coal face annual respirable dust concentrations were 3.0 mg/m3; 2.9 mg/m3; 3.2 mg/m3 and 3.3 mg/m3, giving a mean for the period of 3.1 mg/m3.Total dust concentrations are also tabulated and on average the coal getting results were eight times as high as the corresponding respirable dust concentrations.
