Pneumoconiosis Field Research: Environmental conditions at Linby Colliery, 1978/79

Respirable dust concentrations and compositions at Linby Colliery are tabulated for the period April, 1978 to March 1979. Information regarding seams worked, outputs, methods of working, dust suppression and manpower,together with the associated dust concentrations is presented in a series of face charts.The mean coalface respirable dust concentration was 4.1mg/m3. Total dust concentrations are given, and were on the average, five times as high as respirable dust concentrations.The sampling of nitrous fume continued and the observations are noted. “”
