Environmental conditions at Oakdale Colliery, October 1964 to May 1968 (Gravimetric dust concentrations)

This report tabulates the dust concentrations in mg/m for the period October 1964 – May 1968 covering the 14th – 16th Environmental Surveys and the Gravimetric Sampling Trial, at Oakdale Colliery. The method of 33 converting concentrations previously quoted in particles/cm to mg/m is described. For each occupational group, the concentration of the respirable fraction of the airborne dust is listed. Concentrations of mineral constituents of the samples are also given. Where estimates have been required to fill gaps in the data, the sources are stated.Oakdale Colliery had a coalface (all shifts) mean dust concentration of 2 4.8 mg/m3 containing 20.7 per cent ash. The mean quartz concentration reported was 0.10 mg/m3 for this environment. “”
